Various Useful Glass Polishing Materials Commonly Available In Market

broken image

Nowadays, the doors, windows, and skylights of most of the residential and commercial buildings are made of glass sheets of various thickness, color, and textures. However, like all other parts of a building, glass surfaces also need regular maintenance to retain the original glaze of the materials. Since glass is most likely to be stained and faded, some polishing agents may be needed for occasional treatment of glass surfaces of all glass objects at home.

Few chemical glass polishing materials available in shops

Most of the common shops sell a yellow-orange powder as the best among all glass polishing materials. It is labeled as cerium oxide, which needs to be mixed with a limited amount of water to form a thin paste. A small polishing wheel needs to be dipped into this paste, for applying it all over the glass surface in an even layer.

Cerium hydroxide and silicon dioxide are two other common chemicals that are sold in all local shops for polishing glass objects. Zirconium oxide and Zirconium hydroxide also have glass polishing abilities, though these chemicals are not so commonly available in all stores, due to the rare availability of Zirconium in nature.

Common household glass polishing agents for home

Many people do not prefer to use harsh chemicals for polishing the glass items of their houses. So they opt for safer glass polishing agents, like molten wax and acrylic for making the glass surfaces shinier. Urethane and a few polymers also act as effective means for polishing all kinds of glass products.

Minute diamond particles can be fixed on a polishing pad, for buffing all over the glass surfaces to clean all accumulated dirt and stains; though it is a quite expensive method.

Therefore, polishing of glass is an easy and low-cost task for all homemakers, which keeps their glass objects in good condition for a longer time.
