High Pressure Cleaning Pump: Knowing The Machine

High Pressure Cleaning Pump

A pump that captures the fluid moving inside, and then discharges it from the capturing cavity, is known as a Positive Displacement Pump (PDP). Pumps used for cleaning also fall under this category as they are a type of high pressure reciprocating plunger pumps.

Walls, floors, car bodies, etc. are the surfaces on which such pumps are generally used to remove several impurities - dirt, mud, mould, grime, among others. They are a high pressure washer, mostly using water, which can also be used in descaling and degreasing. A high pressure stream or jet of Cold water or Hot water and sometimes even steam (often mixed with cleaners, detergents, etc.) is directed towards the required surface.

Inside a High Pressure Pump

These pumps, generally having more than one cylinder, have displacers (known as a "plunger") which need crankshafts for their movements. Crankshafts are an integral part of this machine. The plunger moves a volume of the fluid when it moves down through a fixed seal inside the pump and then it draws a volume of the fluid while retracting due to the withdrawal of the crankshaft attached to it. Both the ports(inlet and outlet) have valves known as "Check Valves", which make sure that all of the components are working properly, as in the fluid is being pumped properly.

Efficiency of High Pressure Pumps

Efficiency is the name of the game for these pumps. All of their help is to be more efficient than most other types of pumps. Nearly all fluids can be pumped, through these pumps, after a few configurational changes are done. That is one of their main benefits. Owing to their design, high pressure cleaning pumps can perform at a rate of more than 90% efficiency. They hold the capability to pump at the highest rate of flow even under high pressure. They also are extremely compact and consume very little energy.

Varied Uses

The fact that they are so versatile, allows these pumps to have several other uses also. In recent times, such pumps have been used to demolish wood, stone, concrete and even metal. The force of the out flowing jet of water is so strong that companies that require cutting glass and/or cutting metal are using these high pressure cleaning pump for that purpose (Water jet Cutting). E. g. Several car manufacturers slightly submerge large metal plates under water and use such pumps to cut out the metal parts for the car frames.
